in Bridgewater Receives Grant from Investors Foundation
in Support of JCC Special Needs Programs
Bridgewater, NJ – The Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Bridgewater has received a grant from Investors Foundation to benefit JCC Special Needs Programs and Services.
According to Laura Friedman, JCC Executive Director, “We are so appreciative to receive this generous grant from Investors Foundation. We are grateful to have the support of Investors Foundation so that our JCC can carry out our mission to help those in our local community. Our Special Needs programs are well respected in the community and there is a tremendous need for the programs and services we provide. The JCC is committed to helping this segment of our community, and we thank Investors Foundation for recognizing the important work the JCC is doing.”
The JCC offers a variety of special needs programs including The J-Zone Respite Program for children ages 5-16, J-Cares Adult Intern Program, J-Connect Social Programs for Adults, Adaptive Aquatics Skills Program and the Rising Tide Special Olympics Swim Team. The JCC Blaustein Early Childhood Center, JCC Camp Ruach and J-Crew After School Program work with families with children with special needs. The JCC offers adjusted schedules and one-on-one assistance. The Adler Aphasia Center Support Groups also meet at the JCC. The Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center is located at 775 Talamini Road in Bridgewater. The JCC is a social service agency that serves residents of all ages residing in Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties, providing fitness, recreational, social, cultural and educational programs for the entire community. The state-of-the-art facility includes an indoor salt based heated pool, outdoor salt based heated pool with dome enclosure during the off season, gymnasium, newly renovated and expanded fitness center, group fitness studios, functional training studio, and JFitGround — an outdoor adult fitness training facility used for personal and small group training. Nearly 100 Group Fitness classes are offered each week. The JCC offers a wide variety of adult educational programs including lectures, film series and trips. The JCC Blaustein Early Childhood Center provides childcare for ages 6 weeks through full day Kindergarten and the J-Crew After School Program is open to children in Grades K- 6.
