What is our Respite Program?
The J-Zone Respite Program provides 2 hours of recreational fun for children with Special Needs (ages 5-11) and (ages 12-16). This program offers a well-deserved break to parents and caregivers from the daily challenges of childcare.
Supporting a child with Special Needs can be tremendously challenging for parents and caregivers. Often parents and caregivers of children with Special Needs go for long periods of time before they get any free time. At J-Zone, we give parents and caregivers the time to take a needed break to have some fun, go out to eat, run errands, have some alone time or just get some needed rest.
The time spent at J-Zone will allow the child, their family and/or caregivers to return home recharged after everyone has had time away from their day to day routine and challenges.
J-Zone will offer your child the opportunity for socialization, arts and crafts, a variety of games, sensory activities, playing in the gym or pool and much more. At J-Zone, your child can expect to enjoy fun-filled activities, form new friendships and have peer interaction in a well supervised and structured environment.
What type staff support will be provided?
The JCC J-Zone staff members are trained in CPR/First Aid and all required specialized training. All of our staff must complete a background check and all required specialized training before they are allowed to work in the program. We will also have volunteers who complete the background check and an orientation.
How are behaviors handled?
When behaviors do occur we utilize positive behavior supports or a sensory/quiet room.
The intake process?
During the intake process, a detailed profile will be created for your child and we will utilize that information to address their needs and care while at the J-Zone.
What types of special needs do the children have?
The children in the J-Zone program have a wide range of Special Needs, such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Emotional Disturbance, Cerebral Palsy, Asperger’s Syndrome just to name a few. Each child in our program is unique and different, and they are still a child who loves to play and have fun.
