  • Bachelor or equivalent required. Experience working with youth, teens, and after school programs preferred.

  • Primary Responsibilities:
  • JCrew & Youth Activities/Vacation Camp Programs

Oversee all aspects of running an after school program and youth department, including but not limited to:

  • Budget
  • Youth Recruitment
  • Staffing and Training
  • Program Development and Oversight
  • Parent Communication
  • Vacation Camp Programs Development and Oversight
  • Youth Enrichments/Programs

Teens:

Oversee all aspects of JCC teen programs including:

  • Planning and implementing teen programs.
  • Working with the teen board of directors and recruiting other teens to help plan as participant of a teen committee.
  • Recruitment/Marketing for teen programs
  • Overseeing all aspects of teen trips and programs including both recreational and educational programming.
  • Develop leadership programs for teens.
  • Facilitate teen involvement in JCC wide programs and activities, volunteering and sitting on committees.
  • Partner with other JCC departments who work with Teens to expand teens programming in their departments.
  • Work with Jewish Educator to connect teens to Jewish identity and Israel.
  • Keeping track of rosters, attendance, refunds, respond to phone calls in timely manner.
  • Maintain contact with other teen community groups (i.e. synagogues, schools, etc.).
  • Work collaboratively with Sports and Rec. Director on JCC Maccabi Games and JCC Artsfest along with Mini and Jr. Maccabi Games.

Birthday Parties/Life cycle Events

Oversee all aspects of coordinating birthday parties and life cycle events including but not limited to:

  • Develop New Party themes on a regular basis keeping up with what is popular.
  • Advertise/Recruit.
  • Assist Families with making the day special.
  • Try to fill all dates/rooms on a weekly basis.
  • Hire and Train Party Staff.
  • Manage Party/Rental Budget.

Corporate Events

  • Develop a corporate event rental program.
  • Create a brochure with rental options.
  • Recruit/Outreach to local corporations, school, small businesses.
  • Develop relationships with caterers, supply vendors and entertainment providers.
  • Properly staff each event.
  • Train Rental Staff.

Camp

  • Work as part of the camp leadership team.
  • Attend Camp Meetings.
  • Work in camp, specific Unit Head Position TBD based on needs each summer.
  • Participate in interviews and train staff based on area.
  • Attend all camp orientations.
  • Work camp open houses.

Staff Development/Center Wide Programs

As with all professionals at the JCC, your roles and responsibilities will change over time and as a member of the JCC team, you will be expected to adapt as the JCC grows and develops. You are expected to perform other duties as assigned. In addition, you are expected to communicate in a positive and professional manner with members, board members, and staff. Additionally, you will be expected to attend JCC Staff Meetings, occasional Board of Directors Meetings, Committee Meetings and Center-wide events such as Purim Celebrations, Open Houses as deemed necessary during regular work hours and/or during evenings/weekends.

The Bridgewater JCC is looking to hire multiple lifeguards and swim instructors with IMMEDIATE openings. Lifeguards must have current American Red Cross lifeguard certification.

 

Weekday afternoon and evening hours as well as Saturday and Sunday positions are available. The JCC offers competitive hourly wages and a complimentary fitness membership to all employees!

The Bridgewater JCC is hiring a full-time Head Swim Lesson instructor for our full-service facility located in Bridgewater, New Jersey. This position is available as of September 9, 2018.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach private and semi-private lessons to JCC members and guests ages 3-adult.
  • Teach private and semi-private lessons to our special needs community.
  • Teach weekly swim lessons to the students of our early childhood center.
  • Teach weekly American Red Cross Learn to Swim Group lessons as needed.
  • Teach weekly community swim enrichment programs.
  • Instruct American Red Cross courses (Lifeguard Training, Water Safety Instructor).

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of swim instructor experience.
  • Willingness to teach and work with both children and adults.
  • Experience with individuals with special needs.
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification/willingness to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer/Lifeguard Instructor Trainer certification preferred/willingness to obtain certification within 180 days of hire.

Sunday-Thursday, 40 hours a week position. Salary commensurate with experience and certifications. Position includes full benefits package including health insurance, 401K, vacation and sick time, complimentary JCC membership, and more.

AGENCY INFORMATION:

The Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center is located at 775 Talamini Road in Bridgewater. The JCC is a social service agency that serves residents of all ages residing in Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties, providing fitness, recreational, social, cultural and educational programs for the entire community. The state-of-the-art facility includes an indoor salt based heated pool, outdoor salt based heated pool with dome enclosure during the offseason, gymnasium, fitness center, group fitness studios and JFitGround, an outdoor adult fitness training facility used for personal and small group training. The JCC offers a wide variety of adult education programs including lectures, film series and trips. The JCC Blaustein Early Childhood Center provides childcare for ages 6 weeks through full-day Kindergarten and the J-Crew After School Program is open to children in Grades K- 6. JCC Camp Ruach is the JCC’s summer day camp for children ages two years through 9th Grade. The JCC also offers a variety of one-week Specialty Camps. The JCC is home to the Bridgewater Tide Swim Team and Summer Swim Club. The JCC is pleased to host the Rising Tide Special Olympics Swim Team and offers programs for children and adults with Special Needs, including the J-Zone Respite Recreation Program and the J-Cares Adult Intern Program.
