When Ruth’s family left Brazil for North America in 1964, she and her best friend, Elana, refused to let distance end their friendship. Through letters exchanged for twenty years, the two remained connected as they grew up, adapted to different countries and cultures, and built lives thousands of miles apart. Fifty years after their separation, Ruth and Elana returned to those letters and discovered something remarkable in the voices of their younger selves.
