Details
Community-Wide Holocaust Remembrance Day Commemoration Event
Join us for our Community-Wide Holocaust Remembrance Day Commemoration on Tuesday, January 27th, at 7 PM at The Shimon and Sara Birnbaum JCC. This event includes an extraordinary short film, "The Ice Cream Man," followed by a Q&A with the director, Rob Moniot, and the producer, Greg Malone. In addition, we will have special guest Maud Dahme joining us for the Q&A. Maud is a Holocaust survivor who was hiding in the Netherlands as a child. This hybrid event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
Film synopsis: Shortly after the Nazi invasion of the Netherlands, Ernst Cahn, a popular Jewish ice cream parlor owner, finds himself targeted by the infamous "Butcher of Lyon," Klaus Barbie. As his world crumbles, Cahn must choose between resistance and death...a choice that will reverberate throughout the country. Based on actual events.

The RVCC Institute of Holocaust and Genocide Studies is partnering with The Jewish Federation of West-Central NJ, The Shimon & Sara Birnbaum JCC, and Jewish Family Service of Somerset, Hunterdon, & Warren Counties.
