A Night of Remembrance and Resilience: A Yom HaShoah Program
Join us for a powerful and moving evening as we honor the memory of the Holocaust and the strength of those who survived. Michelle Edgar, Program Specialist for the Institute of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Raritan Valley Community College, will share the remarkable story of her grandmother, Edith Israel.
Edith was just 20 years old, living in Dillich, Germany, when Hitler rose to power—an event that altered the course of her life forever. Her journey is one of unimaginable loss, yet also of resilience, love, and courage in the face of darkness. Through Michelle’s heartfelt retelling, we will bear witness to Edith’s story and reflect on the enduring lessons of the Holocaust.
Guest Speaker: Michelle Edgar
About Michelle Edgar:
Michelle's professional interest in Holocaust and Genocide Studies comes from her family's connection to the Holocaust. She is a third-generation descendant of Holocaust survivors. All four of her grandparents escaped Nazi Germany in the late 1930s. Additionally, Michelle is a founding member and steering committee chair for the Third Generation Descendants of the Holocaust Survivors Group of New Jersey, known as 3GNJ. Michelle is also a board member for 3GNY, a New York chapter for grandchildren of Holocaust survivors. Michelle often shares her grandparents' stories of survival in classrooms throughout the country through the 3GNY speaker program.
