This band of young musicians from Otef Aza, the Gaza Envelope, all victims and witnesses of the October 7th massacre will visit the JCC to share their personal stories and experiences through music and song. This event will include a short concert and a panel discussion.
Shufuni was established in 2022 to promote young artists coming from Sderot and the Gaza envelope area, with a goal to offer different types of events and platforms aimed at exposing the public to the unique voice of Israel’s southern communities. Current members include folk singer/songwriter Daniel Waiss, soul-folk singer Linor Ein Gedi, guitarist, drummer and music educator Rotem Meir Levi, and performer Mira Semandoyev, who recently appeared in the finals of the Israeli Idol show, Hakochav Haba.
On October 7th, Shufuni lost members of the band as well as audience who were murdered during the horrific attack by Hamas. The show is a special educational musical performance: a unique combination of Shufuni’s excellent music, and their personal stories from the past three months.
Most suitable for Adults, Grades 9 - 12 and College students.
Presentation of Shufuni | Look At Me program is made possible by the מתחברים | Mit-habrim | CONNECTIONS funding initiative, a partnership between the Israeli Government’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism and JCC Association of North America."
