About Our JCC

We Pride Ourselves on Being the “The Place to Be” For Everyone!

THE SHIMON AND SARA BIRNBAUM JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER is a non-sectarian social service agency located on 14 acres on Talamini Road in Bridgewater. The JCC opened its doors to the community in December 1999 after years of planning and fundraising by a passionate group of local families that were driven to bring a JCC to our tri-county area.

The JCC serves residents of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties with fitness, recreation, social, cultural and educational programming for the entire community. The JCC is the central address of our widely spread, diverse Jewish community and serves as coordinator and locale for many community-wide events and for programs of Jewish education & culture. Universal humanistic Jewish values and ethics serve as the foundation for our JCC. The JCC is governed by a Board of Directors that works with JCC Professional Staff to fulfill our mission of providing quality programs and services to meet the needs and wants of the Jewish and general communities.

The JCC facility includes heated indoor and outdoor salt-based pools.  A dome enclosed outdoor pool is available in the off-season for year-round use. The JCC has a newly renovated and expanded fitness center, group fitness studio, spin studio and gymnasium.   We offer more than 70 group fitness classes/week, including the internationally acclaimed Les Mills Fitness Program.

THE BLAUSTEIN EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER began serving our youngest members in September 2000 and offers educational and full day childcare for children ages 6 weeks through Kindergarten. JCC Camp Ruach is the JCC’s Summer Day Camp for children ages two through entering Grade 9. The J-Crew After School Program provides child care for elementary age students in Grade K-6 after their school day.

Our JCC Teens get involved in so much here at the JCC.  Whether they are working out in the Fitness Center, attending Camp Ruach Road Rulz, playing on the Youth Basketball League, or volunteer coaching our Special Olympics Swim Team, the JCC provides many opportunities for teen engagement.  Our JCC is one of the largest employers of Teens in the area, with opportunities available at JCC Camp Ruach, in the Aquatics Department, the JCC Blaustein Early Childhood Center, our J-Crew After School Program and the Summer Swim Club. The JCC Board of Directors has several seats designated to Teen members, providing them with unparalleled learning experiences in volunteerism, leadership and philanthropy.

The JCC is pleased to be a founding partner in Jewish LIFE, Learning Is For Everyone, our community’s award-winning adult Jewish adult education series featuring nationally and internationally acclaimed speakers, authors, scholars, film series as well as classes taught by local rabbis and synagogue professional staff. The JCC is pleased to host many of the Jewish LIFE special events.  Jewish LIFE is supported by the JCC, Jewish Federation of Somerset, Hunterdon & Warren Counties, Jewish Family Service of Somerset, Hunterdon & Warren Counties and 12 area synagogues.

We are committed to our Jewish heritage, identity and values and we are proud to be a non-sectarian and diverse center – open to everyone.

THE JCC ADULT DEPARTMENT is the place to find premiere socialization, recreational and cultural programs for adults of all ages and abilities in the tri-county community. Our engaging programs are infused with Jewish heritage and values and are open to all. Whether you are looking to participate in the things you already love to do or are looking for a connection to new people and new experiences, the JCC is the place for you!  From trips to Broadway to Mah Jongg Tournaments, from enlightening authors and guest speakers to getting together to play Bridge, the JCC is your home away from home for socialization, cultural and educational experiences.

The “J” in JCC is what makes us unique, and the diversity of the J is what makes us a center for the entire community. What truly sets us apart is that individuals are recognized and welcomed for who they are. Our JCC is dedicated to creating an environment that is open, understanding, and accepting and where bias and prejudice will not be tolerated. It is a place where each member, staff member and any person who walks into our center should have an opportunity to become the best version of themselves and enjoy all that we have to offer.
