The Shimon and Sara Birnbaum JCC offers aquatics programming for infants toadults. We are proud to offer American Red Cross Learn to Swim Group Lessons, Parent Child Swim Classes, Preschool Swim Lessons, Adult Private Instruction, Aquatics Training School (Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid), Private and Semi private swim lessons, Aqua exercise, and water therapy courses.
About Our Staff:
Our staff consists of highly trained, certified, experienced and professional lifeguards, swimming instructors, coaches and directors. Our staff takes pride in the programs, quality and cleanliness of our fantastic facility. No matter which program you or your child is involved in, you can be assured that you are receiving excellent and appropriate instruction and supervision. There is always at least one lifeguard on duty to ensure that you, your family and your guests are safe and that the pool area is clean and organized. Lifeguards can answer your general questions regarding policies and schedules.
About Our Pools:
The Indoor Pool is a 5 lane, 25 yard (75') competitive-style pool. This pool is open year round to all holding a JCC membership. The depth in the zero access area of the pool goes from zero to 4 feet, and the main part of the pool goes to 6 feet in depth. Diving is only permitted for instructional and/or competitive purposes and must be supervised by a JCC swim instructor or coach. Our indoor pool is the only pool in the area running on a salt sanitization system. Feel the difference! The water temperature is maintained at a relaxing 83 degrees (in the summer months due to our custom enclosure the pool may be a bit warmer). Lessons are held in our indoor pool year round.
Keep the following in mind when you are lap swimming:
1 mile = 72 lengths/36 laps, 3/4 mile = 54 lengths/27 laps, 1/2 mile = 36 lengths/18 laps and 1/4 mile = 18 lengths/9 laps.
Our Outdoor Pool is a 5 lane 25 meter competitive style pool. This pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day to those holding either a Silver Swim Club or Gold membership .The depth in the intermediate area of the pool goes to 2 feet in depth and the main pool goes to 6 feet deep. Our two round kiddie pools are both 1.5 feet deep. Our outdoor pool is run on a chlorine sanitization system. The Outdoor pools vary in temperature as they are not heated.
