- Sunday, March 5 at the Purim Carnival
Purim commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in ancient Persia from Haman’s plot “to destroy all the Jews in a single day.” It is customary for children to dress up in costumes, read the megillah (book of Esther), which recounts the story of the Purim miracle, give money to the poor, send gifts to friend, and eat a festive Purim feast.
Hamantaschen are 3 sided triangular cookies with jelly or chocolate filling we eat at Purim. They represent the hat that Haman wore.
Join us and make delicious hamantaschen at the JCC Purim Carnival. Look for Stacey and Rinat at the baking tables! We provide the dough and fillings. You come ready to shape, bake and eat. Eat them on the spot or take them home!
- Wednesday, April 5, 5:00-7:30 pm
Come at any time to design and create your own wine cup or Elijah’s cup for your Passover table. New to the JCC? We will be giving tours of the JCC and of Camp Ruach while your child does the craft! Free to all!
