Community Support Needed for "Seeds of Change" Grant

seeds-of-change-imageThe Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center (JCC), located in Bridgewater, New Jersey, has entered the Seeds of Change® Grant Program for an opportunity to win one of two $20,000, five $10,000 grants or ten $1,000 grants and is asking the community to get out and vote for their application. The Grant Program aims to enhance the environmental, economic and social well-being of gardens, farms and communities. The grants will be awarded to organizations that help support sustainable, community-based gardening and farming programs that focus on teaching people about the food they eat and how it’s grown

JCC Bridgewater Tide Swim Team Now Registering for Spring Competitive Stroke Clinic and Summer Swim Team

The JCC Bridgewater Tide Swim Team is now registering for a Spring Competitive Stroke Clinic and for Summer Swim Team.  The JCC Bridgewater Tide is located at the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center (JCC) on Talamini Road in Bridgewater, and the team and its programs are open to the community.

"Rock Away at the J"

“Rock Away at the J”, an adult social, on Saturday, March 21 at 7:00 pm.  The event -- open to the community -- will feature Kickback, a classic rock cover band. “Rock Away at the J” will be held at the JCC, located at 775 Talamini Road, Bridgewater. The admission fee, which includes dinner, two drinks and a cash bar, is $25/person for registrations received before March 16 and $30/person for registrations received after March 16.

JCC Bridgewater Hosts March Mitzvah Madness/Sponsors Pasta Dinner

The Pasta Dinner is part of a greater initiative at the JCC is called, “March Mitzvah Madness”. During the month of March, each department within the JCC has vowed to perform a “mitzvah” -- or good deed – to help a segment of the local JCC community or a charitable organization.  According to JCC Executive Director, Laura Friedman, “One of the missions of our JCC is to give back to our local community, and as it is stated in Pirkei Avot,  ‘It is not what one says, but rather what one does, that makes all the difference in the world.’  I’m so proud of how our staff has come together in creating ‘March Mitzvah Madness’.  This is an example of the great things that go on here at the JCC all throughout the year.”

Mah Jongg Tournament

The Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center (JCC) is hosting a Mah Jongg Tournament on Sunday, March 15.  The community is invited to participate in the event which benefits The JCC Scholarship Fund and will be held at the JCC, located at 775 Talamini Road, Bridgewater, New Jersey.  The registration fee is $50/person and includes morning coffee and deli lunch.  Doors open at 8:45am and the tournament begins promptly at 9:30am. Tournament rules are provided by the Mah Jongg League. Participants are requested to register by March 4 by calling 908-725-6994 x201 or online at

A Night to Celebrate Israel

On Thursday, March 26 at 6:30 pm Jewish LIFE (Learning Is For Everyone) invites community members to attend the Third Annual A Night to Celebrate Israel. This event will benefit the community’s support of Israel Bonds and The State of Israel, and will be held at Raritan Valley Country Club in Bridgewater.

16th Annual Family Purim Carnival
