Bridgewater Tide Welcomes New Coaches

swim-coaches-photoThe JCC Bridgewater Tide Swim Team is pleased to welcome two new full time coaches to the team, Kellyanne Tomasula and David White. The Bridgewater Tide Swim Team is located at the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center (JCC).

According to Paige Silberfein, Associate Executive Director of the JCC, “We are very fortunate to have Kellyanne and David join our Tide coaching staff.  Their swimming experience and coaching qualifications make them an asset to our Team.  We welcome them to our JCC community.”

Prior to joining the Bridgewater Tide, Kellyanne Tomasula was a coach with the Aqua Gems Swim Team in Warwick/Middletown, NY where she instructed all levels of swimming, and developed practice and goals plans.  She also provided swim and technique instruction and motivation.  Previous coaching experience includes the Sussex County YMCA’s Swordfish Swim Team.  Kellyanne is a graduate of Rider University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Sociology.  She holds the Rider University team records in the 100 yard backstroke and the 200 yard backstroke. Kellyanne is two time NJ High School All-American in 2006 and earned Scholastic All-American several times.  She has a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and is a NJ licensed Associate Counselor and a Drug and Alcohol Counselor.

David White joins the JCC Bridgewater Tide from The FISH, a USA swim team in McLean, VA, where he was a full-time Coach. While working with The FISH, the team earned USA Silver Medal Club awards for two straight years, an award reserved for the best 100 teams in the country. David had the opportunity to coach Olympic Trial qualifiers, as well as many Eastern Zone All-Stars and National Top 10 swimmers. He is an ASCA Level 3 certified coach who is excited to return to his home area. David swam competitively at Stony Brook University, where he earned a degree in Music focusing on vocal performance. He grew up in Flemington, NJ, where he swam for the Hunterdon County YMCA, held over 20 team records, and was a multiple individual state-champion and YMCA National Top 16 swimmer. After college David coached with the Hunterdon County YMCA and coached many YMCA Nationals qualifiers.

The Bridgewater Tide Swim Team is a premier, competitive USA swim team. The Tide provides swim instruction and training for a variety of skill levels. The JCC Bridgewater Tide is the umbrella organization under which all JCC competitive swim teams exist, including: the JCC Bridgewater Tide (BWTD) and the JCC Bridgewater Summer Tide.  

Tryouts for the Fall/Winter Short Course season will be held Wednesday, August 9 from 5-6 pm for swimmers ages 10 and under, and from 6-7 pm for swimmers ages 11 and over.  Practice begins Monday, September 11.
