4th Annual Special Needs Prom
The Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center (JCC) is hosting its 4th Annual Prom for Adults with Special Needs, Saturday, November 18 from 7-10 p.m. The Prom is open to adults ages 18 and older with special needs. The event will be held at the JCC, located at 775 Talamini Road, Bridgewater. The admission fee is $25 per person and includes Italian dinner, dessert, soft drinks and dancing. Gluten free meals are available to those who need them. (There is no admission fee for a personal aide to accompany a Prom guest.) Attire is “party chic” - no jeans. The JCC offers a variety of special needs programs including The J-Zone Respite Program for elementary age children ages 5-16, J-Cares Adult Internship Program, J-Connect Social Programs for Adults, Adaptive Aquatics Skills Program and the Rising Tide Special Olympics Swim Team. The JCC Blaustein Early Childhood Center, JCC Camp Ruach and J-Crew After School Program work with families with children with special needs. The JCC offers adjusted schedules and one-on-one assistance. Also offered at the JCC are Jewish Family Service’s Social Club for Young Adults with Asperger Syndrome or Developmental Challenges, a Parent Support Group and a Sibling Support Group. The Adler Aphasia Center Support Groups also meet at the JCC.
