Immediate Full-Time Opening:  The JCC Bridgewater Tide Swim team is seeking a Certified USA Swim Coach to assist the Head Coach in the daily operations of our top level USA Swim Program.  We offer a competitive program that allows swimmers to achieve high levels of athletic success on a State and National level. We also enjoy a “family” culture that includes committed coaches and a supportive volunteer parent committee with a diverse and dedicated group of swimmers and families.  

The Head Age Group Coach will be responsible for all aspects of coaching designated practice groups and will attend all meets that the team attends.  Practices are Monday-Friday and Sundays.  Morning practices will be required as needed.  Meets are generally 1-2 weekends a month, with more during Championship seasons.  This position will also have administrative responsibilities including but not limited to meet entries, communications with parents, meetings with athletes, and management of team rosters. The Head Age Group Coach will also oversee our Summer League program as well. 

The Tide has a year round enrollment of 120 swimmers that compete on both USA Swimming Short Course and Long Course teams, a Spring Training program, and a summer league team that competes in the NJ Swimming and Diving Conference. The JCC boasts an excellent facility includes both a 5 lane 25 yard indoor heated pool and a 5 lane 25 meter outdoor heated pool that has a dome enclosure during the colder months so it is utilized all year round. 

Basic Job Description:  

Communications

  • Manage the team email account:  Respond to informational/ non-coaching related emails from parents and/or forward emails to appropriate coaches if necessary.  Draft all necessary emails.
  • Create and maintain distribution lists
  • Compile necessary Swim Team information for JCC program guides, Board reports, press releases
  • Set up tryouts for prospective members as needed
  • Update Website as needed

Registration/ Roster Management:

  • Coordinate SC/LC registration- help coaches with logistics such as group numbers/lane space, practice times etc.
  • Update registration packet and information for each season
  • Send out invitations once coaches determine groups, track responses, and ultimately coordinate roster with JCC CFO.
  • Update and maintain roster in the database
  • Handle all aspects of Team, Athlete, Coach and Official registrations with the NJ Swim

Meet entries:

  • Send out meet entry emails, keep track of sign outs
  • Process meets entries immediately as meets post
  • Ensure that all meet entry deadlines are met in a timely manner.
  • Correspond with meet directors as necessary
  • Fill out meet paperwork
  • Process meet results when available
  • Assist CFO with escrow accounts (provide athlete escrow reports after each meet and help determine replenishments as needed)
  • Keep track of records in database and team spreadsheet. Complete record breaker certificates for each season.
  • Work with record board company to order updates each season.

Other Administrative Duties;

  • Create attendance files and keep track of weekly attendance
  • Work with head coach, assistant coaches, and parent committee members as necessary in logistics of meetings or team events
  • Assist in acquiring additional pool space when necessary (bubble up/down, JCC Closures, Long Course Summer Morning Practice)
  • Assist in drafting team documents as needed (new policies, permission slips, contracts)

Minimum requirements include:

  1. USA Certification
  2. Strong organizational, leadership and administrative skills.
  3. Effective Communication Skills to both communicate with swimmers and their parents.
  4. Proficient computer skills.
  5. Ability to develop and manage an Age Group/Senior swimming program.
  6. Skills necessary to recruit, retain and facilitate growth and performance of swimmers.
  7. A willingness to maintain working knowledge of current swimming techniques and training methods.
  8. Experience in Supervision of part-time assistant coaches.
  9. Professional and upstanding behaviors consistent with USA Swimming and ASCA Code of Ethics;

Swim Team Assistant Coaches

Immediate Part-Time Opening:  The JCC Bridgewater Tide Swim team is seeking a qualified USA Swim Coach to assist the Swim Team Director and assistant coaches in the daily operations of our Swim Program.  We offer a competitive program that allows swimmers to achieve high levels of athletic success on a State and National level. We also enjoy a “family” culture that includes committed coaches and a supportive volunteer parent committee with a diverse and dedicated group of swimmers and families.  

The Assistant coach will be responsible for all aspects of coaching a designated practice group and will attend all meets in which they are assigned.  Practices are Monday-Friday and Sundays.  Morning practices will be required as needed.  Meets are generally 1-2 weekends a month, with more during Championship seasons. 

The Tide has a year round enrollment of 180-200 swimmers that compete on both USA Swimming Short Course and Long Course teams, a Competitive Stroke Clinic in the spring, and a summer league team that competes in the NJ Swimming and Diving Conference. The JCC boasts an excellent facility includes both a 5 lane 25 yard indoor heated pool and a 5 lane 25 meter outdoor heated pool that has a dome enclosure during the colder months so it is utilized all year round. 

Minimum requirements include:

  1. Coaching experience.
  2. Effective Communication Skills to both communicate with swimmers and their parents.
  3. Ability to develop and manage an Age Group swimmers.
  4. A willingness to maintain working knowledge of current swimming techniques and training methods.
  5. Professional and upstanding behaviors consistent with USA Swimming and ASCA Code of Ethics;
