ACA accreditation is a strong networking opportunity for Camp Ruach, connecting its leadership with other camp professionals, and offering the camp opportunities for enhancement.   Camp Ruach is located at the JCC on Talamini Road in Bridgewater.

Some qualifications required to become ACA accredited are meeting specific ratios of campers to counselors, following the guidelines for emergency procedures, and having activities meet safety standards and be supervised by staff members/professionals.

Camp Ruach already met 100 percent of the standards to receive accreditation. The accreditation only serves to better the camp, as no changes had to be made to Camp Ruach’s protocol. “Receiving ACA accreditation validates the high standards we hold our camp to,” said Stacey Herman, Director of JCC Camp Ruach. She added, “Accreditation provides us with a wide variety of resources and tools to both grow and expand our camp that were not previously accessible. Being ACA Accredited is a coveted asset for JCC Camp Ruach.”

JCC Camp Ruach offers programs for campers ages 15 months through 9th grade. Camp Ruach has three swimming pools – indoor and outdoor – four sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, climbing wall, bouldering wall, high and low ropes courses, mini-golf course, great indoor facilities including a gymnasium, enclosed game room and much more. Activities include daily instructional and recreational swim, Karate, Archery, Sports, Gymnastics, Nature, Drama, Arts & Crafts, Musical Theatre, Cooking, weekly themes and Entertainment. Special events include trips, electives, color war, camp carnival and more. The camp welcomes and accommodates children with special needs by customizing their program and staff needs.  Camp Ruach’s 2017 season will run from June 26 through August 25.

The JCC also offers week long Specialty Camps throughout the summer session; campers can sign up for one or more of the specialty camps. Contact Stacey Herman for additional information on Camp Ruach and Specialty Camps at 908-725-6994 x223; sherman@ssbjcc.org.
