Dog Day Returns to the J
The Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center (JCC) will be hosting its Fourth Annual Dog Day Dog at the J on Sunday, September 20. Dog Day is a community event and will be held from 10am-1pm at the JCC, located at 775 Talamini Road in Bridgewater. Admission is free. The event will be a fun-filled day for dogs and their families and benefits The JCC Scholarship Fund. Dog Day will feature a variety of dog vendors and activities including: Ask the Groomer, Ask the Vet, Free Dental Exam, Animal Rescue and Adoption, Dog Blessing, and face painting and crafts for the kids. There will be animal shelters and rescue agencies with opportunity for dog adoption. Dogs can participate in contests including Best Costume, Pet Tricks, and more. Snacks will be available for purchase.
Dog Day sponsorships and vendor opportunities are available. There is no vendor fee for a 501C3 agency. The title sponsor is Tarheel Kennels, and early sponsors include Barker Bus and Bridgewater Veterinary Hospital. Each year the JCC awards more than $210,000 in scholarship assistance to underprivileged individuals and families so that they can participate in events and attend the Blaustein Early Childhood Center and JCC Camp Ruach. The JCC Camp and Preschool Scholarship Program make it possible for children to participate in JCC activities that they could not otherwise afford. Funds also support services to seniors including a hot lunch, exercise, entertainment and socialization and to families and individuals who require assistance for membership and for special needs programming. Scholarship assistance is provided to all who demonstrate financial need, regardless of race, creed, or color.
The Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center is located at 775 Talamini Road in Bridgewater. The JCC is a social service agency that serves residents of all ages residing in Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties, providing fitness, recreational, social, cultural and educational programs for the entire community. The state-of-the-art facility includes an indoor salt based heated pool, outdoor salt based heated pool with dome enclosure during the off season, gymnasium, fitness center, group fitness studios featuring the Les Mills fitness program and Spin and new in summer of 2015 -- an outdoor Adult FitGround used for personal and small group training. The JCC Blaustein Early Childhood Center provides childcare for ages 6 weeks through Kindergarten and the J-Crew After School Program is open to children in Grades K- 6. JCC Camp Ruach is the JCC's summer day camp for children ages 15 months through 9th Grade.
