JCC Donates to Make a Wish Foundation
The Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center in Bridgewater recently made a donation to Make-A- Wish New Jersey. The JCC Adult Services Department collected $450 to benefit “Jacob”, a 4 year old boy from Bound Brook, whose wish is to visit Disney World. Jacob and his family are planning a trip to Disney World in Orlando in June. The collection for Make-A-Wish New Jersey was part of an overall community service initiative at the JCC called “March Mitzvah Madness”, whereby each program department at the JCC performed a “mitzvah” -- or good deed -- to benefit the local community. Additional Mitzvah Madness activities included a collection of more than 20 bags of food for a local food pantry; a Pasta Party organized by the JCC Aquatics Department and the JCC Bridgewater Tide Swim Team which raised $2,200 for Special Olympics Somerset Country. The JCC After School Program students compiled personal care packages to benefit veterans at Veterans Hospital in Lyons, and children in the JCC Blaustein Early Childhood Center made centerpieces for the Seder Tables at the Wilf Campus for Senior Living in Somerset.
