The Bridgewater Fab Five Dominate at the JCC Jr. Maccabi Games
On Sunday May 3rd, the Bridgewater JCC was represented at the 2015 JCC Mid- Atlantic Junior Maccabi Games by five girls from our Tide Swim Team. The Junior Maccabi Games are an Olympic style event open to Jewish youth ages 9-12.
Bridgewater was the smallest delegation and the 3rd smallest girls swim team, but that did not faze the Fab Five, who finished 7th overall out of the 12 JCC’s represented.
In the swimming pool they finished 2nd out of 12 racking up a staggering 173 total points. Leading the charge, were the sisters Romanelli who placed first in all four of their events to account for 80 of the team’s total points. Elle, our youngest team member, posted best times in 3 out of 4 of her events. Sister Ava beat all but one of the boys who were competing at the same time in the 500 free style.
Samantha Bender supported the cause with 36pts and nothing less than a bronze medal including a best time in the 200 Individual Medley.
Teammates Julia Senzon and Anne Wang combined for the final 61 points, with both collecting a silver and bronze medal. Anne also posted a best time with her 100 Butterfly.
Congratulations, to all the girls, their parents and coaches for a job well done.
We look forward to participating with an even larger delegation next year!
