All About Aquatics

About Our Staff

Our staff consists of highly trained, certified, experienced and professional lifeguards, American Red Cross Water Safety instructors, coaches and directors. Our staff takes pride in the programs, quality and cleanliness of our fantastic facility. No matter which program you or your child is involved in, you can be assured that you are receiving excellent and appropriate instruction and supervision. There is always at least one lifeguard on duty to ensure that you, your family and your guests are safe and that the pool area is clean and organized. Lifeguards can answer your general questions regarding policies and schedules.

About Our Pools

The Indoor Pool is a 5 lane, 25 yard (75’) competitive-style pool. This pool is open year round to all holding a JCC membership. The depth in the zero access area of the pool goes from zero to 4 feet, and the main part of the pool goes to 6 feet in depth.  Our indoor pool is the only pool in the area running on a salt sanitization system. Feel the difference!  Our indoor pool also uses UV technology to maintain the highest standards of water chemistry. The water temperature is maintained at a relaxing 84 degrees. Lessons are held in our indoor pool year round.

Our bubble pool is a 5 lane, 33 yard competitive-style pool. This pool is primarily utilized by our swim team, the JCC Bridgewater Tide, from mid-September to mid-May. The bubble structure is taken down for the summer for our Summer Swim Club. The pool features an intermediate pool which ranges from 1-3 feet, the main pool 3-6 feet with slide, and two kiddie pools that are one foot deep. The pool is kept at 82 degrees year round. The bubble/outdoor pool also has a commercial salt sanitization system and also uses UV technology to keep the pool water as clean as possible.

Choosing the Right Swim Class/Level

If you have questions about the appropriate level for your child please schedule an evaluation with us. You may also drop in for a swim evaluation to determine your child’s swim level:

DROP IN SWIM LEVEL EVALUATIONS

  • Saturday, September 12: 1:00-3:00pm
  • Sunday, September 13: 10:00am-1:00pm
  • Wednesday, September 16: 3:00-7:00pm

Observation of Lessons

While we recognize that parents are as thrilled about the progress of their children as the students are, we respectfully ask that parents remain seated on the pool bleachers for the duration of your child’s lesson. Unless specified (such as a parent/child swim class) parents are not permitted in the water with their children as this is a distraction to the group as a whole. Thank you for your cooperation.

Class Refund/Credit Policy

Requests for class refunds/credits must be submitted in writing to the Aquatics Director (SJohnson@ssbjcc.og) before the third week of the program session. After two weeks of the class session, refunds/credits will be issued for medical reasons only (requests must be accompanied by a doctor’s note). Refunds/credits are issued for the remainder of the session, not for individual classes. Refunds/credits will be pro-rated based on the number of classes attended.

Swim Lesson Waitlist Procedures

If your child is placed on a waiting list for a group swim lesson, the Aquatics Department will contact you directly via email or phone if a space becomes available. If you do not receive a communication for us, a space has not come available. We will do our best to accommodate your request. In most instances, a current participant must drop out of the class for a space to become available. Since we have a set number of lanes, we typically cannot open one class without cancelling another class with low enrollment. We will take participants off the waiting list through the 4th week of the session.
