Creative Writing Workshop

7-9 pm | February 1, 9,16, 23 March 2 (Mondays)
Find your voice as a writer in a safe, risk-free environment. Exercise your imagination and memory in this five week workshop to tell the stories that are uniquely yours to tell. We’ll write to timed prompts using the Amherst Writers and Artists Method, creating first drafts of poetry, fiction and non-fiction. Along the way you’ll learn elements of writing craft to help you continue shaping images and characters. Participants are encouraged to read their work aloud only positive feedback will be provided. Writers at all levels are welcome.

The Whipping Man at the George Street Playhouse, New Brunswick

This powerful and evocative historical play takes place in Richmond, Virginia in April of 1865. A wounded Jewish Confederate soldier returns to his family home that now stands ruined and abandoned – except for two former slaves also raised in the Jewish faith. As the three men share an improvised Seder to mark Passover, they discover that, though they are no longer tied by ownership, they are no longer tied by ownership, they remain bound by faith, history and long buried secrets. Since opening off-Broadway to critical acclaim and winning the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Play, The Whipping Man has become one of the most produced plays in the country.

Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum

There’s so much to see and do at Madame Tussaud’s New York! Get up close and personal with over 200 life-like wax sports, history and more. Mingle with movie stars in your own A-list party before getting on stage with your favorite pop star. Address the world alongside famous leaders and then challenge legendary athletes on the court.
